Victoria and Albert Museum Doormat - Night Owls

This season, we celebrate the artistry of the iconic Arts and Crafts movement, drawing inspiration from the exquisite works of C.F.A. Voysey at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Voysey’s design for The Owl from 1897 captures his signature style of fusing organic forms with rhythm and simplicity, making it a hallmark of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Many of Voysey’s most captivating designs emerged during this period, showcasing the influence of William Morris’ principles of pattern-making, as well as a deep appreciation for nature. Voysey’s designs for wallpapers and textiles demonstrate a talent for pattern, form and function, making them a significant component of the V&A’s collection of British design and decorative arts.
